Its just difficult to find out what’s the purpose of life, this thought had been lingering in my mind since my ability to think has become a bit mature. At times the frequency of this thought gains so much momentum that my complete thought about myself and this universe comes to a standstill. So,is there an ultimate aim in life ?
The question may seem irrelevant from the point of view of the youth, but I am sure that everyone reading this might have thought about this question at least in one point in their lives. But for the time being let us forget about the ultimate aim in life and let us rather look at what happens to people in their lives. I remember a few lines of the poem by Robert Frost as I think upon this idea….
The road not taken
Two road diverged in a yellow wood
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth…
Similar to the two roads that Robert Frost described here I can also observe two roads diverging before any traveler travelling this path of life…..one road is family life and the other is solitary life . It may seem easy to choose the former and the majority have done so but choosing the latter is hard and challenging as well. The culprit that creates a turmoil between these two choices is nothing but LOVE. By default, man’s nature is to love, and be loved. We all want that someone….that special someone which makes us feel that we are special. Some people find this special someone in their life and if circumstances allow, they settle into family life. Blessed ones !! Some people may not find that special someone, they tend to settle with what they get, some gets happy ultimately while some end up being unhappy. Let destiny decide !! There are also another set of people who may not find that special someone or have lost them, they are not ready to settle with anything they get, they turn towards solitary life. So the road that is taken by the traveler is much dependent on how he/she perceives love.
What I feel is that destiny is not something that is written long before by God, he does alter our destiny according to the pulse of our heart or the decision our heart takes. “And when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it “-Paulo Coelho ( The alchemist). I do believe in this philosophy of Paulo Coelho. So our purpose in life is largely defined by the amount of faith we have in something and the machine that produces faith is nothing but the heart alone. While the brain writes the words ,its the heart that decides the literature. Anyway to conclude, its the road that we choose that decides our future, rightfully concluded by Robert Frost “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less traveled by ,and that has made all the difference “…….Did you take the road less traveled by ?
